Mamata Banerjee (born 5 January 1955) is an Indian politician, social activist, author, and painter. Popularly known as "Didi" (Elder Sister), she is the founder and chairperson of the All India Trinamool Congress (AITC). Banerjee became the first woman Chief Minister of West Bengal and is regarded as one of the most influential leaders in Indian regional politics.

Early Life and Education

Mamata Banerjee was born on 5 January 1955 in Kolkata, West Bengal, India. She was raised in a lower-middle-class family and faced financial hardships following the death of her father during her childhood.
