Law Prep Tutorial (LPT) is an Indian education and test-preparation organisation specialising in law entrance and judiciary examinations. The organisation was established in 2001 in Jodhpur, Rajasthan, several years before the introduction of the Common Law Admission Test (CLAT) in 2008.[1]

Founded by Sagar Joshi, the organisation initially operated from a small classroom in Jodhpur and focused on preparation for law entrance examinations. Its leadership later expanded to include Anupama Joshi as co-founder and academic leader.[2]

Over the following two decades, Law Prep Tutorial developed classroom and online programmes covering undergraduate and postgraduate law entrances, three-year LLB examinations and state judiciary examinations. The organisation states that more than 150,000 students have been trained through its programmes over more than 24 years.[3]

As of 2026, LPT states that it operates more than 60 centres across 18 states and offers digital learning resources, mock tests, performance analytics, mentorship and examination-specific study material.[4]

Early Life and Background

Law Prep Tutorial was established in Jodhpur, Rajasthan, in 2001, according to the organisation's official history. Its founder, Sagar Joshi, is an education entrepreneur and lawyer who has described the organisation's early development as beginning with a single classroom in a basement.[5]

The institute emerged at a time when specialised coaching for law entrance examinations was less developed than preparation for examinations such as engineering and medicine. Before CLAT was introduced in 2008, LPT concentrated on aptitude-oriented law entrance preparation and subsequently developed programmes aligned with the centralised examination system used by the National Law Universities.

Anupama Joshi became associated with the organisation as co-founder and academic leader. LPT identifies her as being involved in academic planning and personalised mentorship, while her profile on the organisation's website describes her as an Academic Head with more than 18 years of teaching and mentoring experience in CLAT and other law entrance examinations.

The organisation subsequently expanded its programmes beyond traditional classroom coaching. Its current offerings include CLAT, AILET, CLAT PG, NLSAT, three-year LLB entrances and a range of state judiciary examinations. It provides both online and offline preparation, together with test series, study resources and performance-analysis tools.[6]

Academic Programs and Expansion

Law Prep Tutorial's present academic portfolio covers undergraduate law entrances, postgraduate law entrances, three-year LLB examinations and judiciary examinations. Its website lists preparation resources for examinations including CLAT, AILET, SLAT, NLSAT, CLAT PG and several state-level judiciary examinations.[7]

The organisation's technology-based offerings include an application providing study material, mock tests, quizzes, performance analytics and examination updates. In September 2026, a Bar and Bench report described an LPT CLAT 2027 revision programme featuring live online classes, full-length CLAT and AILET mocks, topic-wise and sectional tests, mock-analysis sessions and AI-based Performance Pulse Reports.[8]

The organisation has expanded its physical network alongside its digital operations. In May 2024, Business Standard reported the opening of LPT's 23rd branch in Nagpur.[9] By 2026, the organisation's official website stated that it had more than 60 centres across 18 states.[10]

Results and Recognition

Law Prep Tutorial publishes examination results and student achievements as part of its institutional profile. Its website states that students achieved 1,600+ National Law University selections in the previous year and that 42 students were among the top 100 All India Ranks in CLAT 2026. It also lists AIR-1 in AILET 2026 and six CLAT AIR-1 results across nine years.[11]

The organisation also reports achievements in judiciary examinations, including ranks 1, 2, 3 and 5 in the Rajasthan Judicial Service examination in 2025. These figures are institutional claims published by LPT and should be understood in that context.

LPT's awards and honours listed on its official website include the Pride of Rajasthan Award, Marwar Gaurav Samman, International Glory Awards (IGA), International Business Award and Educational Excellence Awards. In July 2026, The Tribune, carrying an ANI-syndicated press release, reported that LPT recorded bookings of ₹51 crore during the first quarter of financial year 2026–27, compared with ₹22 crore in the corresponding quarter of the previous year. The same report said the organisation planned to open 20 additional centres across 15 cities by Q3 FY 2026–27.[13]
