Early Life & Background

Born on October 26, 1960, in Malacca, Malaysia, Acharya Sri Rakum Jee displayed an innate curiosity about spirituality and society's development from a young age. He received his education at Joseph High School and pursued a Master's degree in public administration. His father, Ramakrishna, a former British army officer stationed in Malacca, and his mother, Naliniamma, played significant roles in shaping his early life.

Career

Acharya Sri Rakum Jee's life journey led him to delve deeply into spirituality and philosophy. He dedicated his entire existence to noble deeds and embraced a life of service, especially concerning children's development and social welfare. One of his notable contributions is the establishment of the "Shri Acharya Rakum Ashram" in Bettenahalli, Tarahunse Road Maragondanahalli, Devanahalli Taluk, Bangalore Rural District.

At the ashram, Acharya Sri Rakum Jee imparts teachings on Jnana Yoga, Karma Yoga, Raja Yoga, and Bhakti Yoga to the children, fostering their holistic growth. Moreover, the ashram showcases a sustainable approach to living, as it effectively adopts rainwater harvesting and utilizes solar energy for the betterment of the community. Notably, the ashram also houses a cowshed with over 100 different breeds of cows, and the products derived from them, such as milk and curd, are distributed freely to the ashram's children and elderly in the neighboring villages. Additionally, for the past two decades, the ashram has been distributing pensions and rations to the elderly in the surrounding areas, showcasing Acharya Sri Rakum Jee's unwavering commitment to social welfare.

Rakum Blind School

With a firm belief that education is the key to positive transformation, Acharya Sri Rakum Jee took a bold step to contribute to society by establishing the "Acharya Rakum School of the Blind" in Indiranagar, Bangalore. Initially starting with only 14 children, this school has flourished over the years, becoming a beacon of hope for thousands of visually impaired individuals. The school provides free food, accommodation, education, music, karate, yoga, and computer education for the blind, fostering an inclusive environment that empowers the visually impaired and underprivileged children.

Not limiting his efforts to one location, Acharya Sri Rakum Jee extended his noble cause by founding two more schools in 2003, one in Devanalli and another in Arkavati Lay Out, both located in rural districts of Bangalore. These schools continue to uplift countless lives and exemplify the profound impact of education.

Awards & Achievements

Acharya Sri Rakum Jee's relentless dedication and selfless service have earned him several accolades and recognition. In 2016, he received the prestigious GnanaBangara (Golden Wisdom) Award from Shri Deve Gowda, the former Prime Minister of India. This award honored his exemplary contributions to society and his profound wisdom in spiritual matters.

Additionally, in the same year, he was bestowed with the esteemed Kempegowda Award, the highest civilian award in Bangalore city. The Honorable Chief Minister of Karnataka, Shri Siddharamiah, presented this award, acknowledging Acharya Sri Rakum Jee's outstanding commitment to social welfare and educational endeavors.

In 2009, he was honored with the Mother Teresa Excellence Award, further cementing his reputation as an exceptional humanitarian and spiritual leader.
