Sunny Woo Park (born Kwon Woo Park) is an American martial artist, entrepreneur, and Taekwondo master known for his contributions to the global martial arts community. He is the co-founder of Master Park's Black Belt America and the President of Kombat Taekwondo USA, an organization that has expanded Taekwondo training programs internationally. Park is recognized for his leadership in martial arts business development, athlete empowerment, and efforts to unify various Taekwondo organizations.
Early Life and Education
Sunny Woo Park was born to South Korean immigrant parents in the United States. His father, a martial arts instructor, introduced him to Taekwondo at a young age. In 1989, his family established their first Taekwondo studio, where Park began training rigorously. By the age of 10, he was actively managing one of the family's studios in Oradell, New Jersey, balancing teaching, administrative responsibilities, and his personal training regimen. Despite early success, his family faced financial difficulties in 1998, resulting in the loss of their home and business. Determined to rebuild, Park, along with his wife and brother, re-established their martial arts enterprise in 2004, rebranding it as Kombat Taekwondo USA.
Career
Martial Arts and Business Expansion With a vision to modernize Taekwondo training and expand its accessibility, Sunny Woo Park grew Master Park's Black Belt America into a prominent martial arts institution. The business has expanded to ten locations across the tri-state area, training over 3,000 students and generating approximately $3 million in annual revenue. Beyond local expansion, Park has played a key role in Kombat Taekwondo USA’s international growth. The organization now operates in over 110 countries, supporting more than 1,000 affiliated clubs and 1,400 certified referees. His goal is to make Taekwondo a more inclusive and professionally rewarding discipline by establishing structured training programs and competitions at a global scale.
Leadership in Martial Arts Development
Sunny Woo Park is a 5th Dan Kukkiwon Certified Black Belt and holds a Level 3 Krav Maga instructor certification. He was also a member of the 2024 USA National Team, contributing to the evolution of modern martial arts training methodologies. He advocates for combat sports transparency, fair athlete compensation, and professional development, particularly through collaborations with blockchain initiatives like RESPECT TOKEN. His leadership efforts are focused on unifying different martial arts organizations and creating professional opportunities for athletes worldwide. Park has been instrumental in developing new competition formats for Taekwondo, enhancing the sport’s mainstream appeal.
Future Plans
Sunny Woo Park envisions further expanding Kombat Taekwondo USA to 50 locations across the United States by the time he turns 50. Additionally, he plans to host major international Taekwondo events, including a flagship championship in the United States by 2025.

Beyond his business ventures, Park is dedicated to using martial arts as a tool for empowerment, discipline, and personal growth. He emphasizes the importance of self-defense training, confidence-building, and resilience.
