Ajay Dalal,[1] a 4th Dan black belt and former Team India captain, is an accomplished Indian taekwondo athlete who has brought glory to his country. He recently won a Bronze medal at the seventh International Fujairah Open International Taekwondo Championship held in the United Arab Emirates. Despite facing the 2016 Olympics bronze medalist and losing the match, Dalal's exceptional performance and unwavering dedication have firmly established him as one of India's top male taekwondo players. Early Life and Background

Ajay Dalal[3] hails from Kirari Village in North Delhi and is the son of a farmer. He discovered his passion for taekwondo at the tender age of 10, igniting a lifelong dedication to the sport. Dalal completed his post-graduation in Physical Education and embarked on a journey that would eventually establish him as a prominent figure in Indian taekwondo.[4]

Career

Dalal's [5]remarkable career in taekwondo spans over a decade, during which he has represented India on numerous occasions in international championships. He became the first Indian player to participate in the World University Taekwondo Championship in Korea in 2012 and the University Games in Taipei in 2017. These milestones set the stage for his subsequent achievements. Over the years, Dalal[6] has showcased his prowess in various competitions, earning accolades and medals. He clinched the Bronze Medal at the 2010 India Open International Championship, contributing to India's taekwondo legacy. His notable achievements also include being a Commonwealth Medalist in 2017, winning a Bronze Medal at the Fujairah Open Championship in 2018-19, securing a Bronze Medal at the Asia Open Championship in 2019, and achieving the 9th position at the Germany Open Taekwondo Championship. Additionally, he showcased his talent and skill by securing the 5th position in the 27th and 29th Fajr Cup held in Iran in 2016 and 2018, respectively.[7]

He runs a sports academy called Aryan's World in Delhi, where he imparts training to underprivileged students and empowers young girls with self-defense skills.
