He currently serves as the Consultant and Head at Amit Jain’s Institute of Diabetic Foot and Wound Care, located at Brindhavvan Areion Hospital in Bengaluru. With over a century of publications to his name, Dr. Jain has established himself as a leading authority in his field.

Early Life and Background

Amit Kumar C Jain was born on January 21, 1979, in Bengaluru, formerly known as Bangalore, in the state of Karnataka, India. He is the son of Mr. Chhaganlal Jain and Jamku Bai. Dr. Jain is happily married to Mrs. Chandra Kumari, and they are blessed with two children, Rhythm Jain and Aagam Jain.

Dr. Jain completed his secondary education at Baldwin Boys High School in 1995 and pursued his Pre-University Course (PUC) at BHS First Grade College. He embarked on his journey in the medical field by joining Dr. B.R Ambedkar Medical College to pursue his Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) in 1997. Following this, he completed his one-year internship at St. Martha's Hospital in Bengaluru.

Driven by his passion for diabetic foot care, Dr. Amit Jain undertook his postgraduate studies in Surgery (DNB) at Vydehi Institute of Medical Sciences and Research Centre from 2003 to 2007. He further honed his expertise in Podiatric Surgery (Diabetic Foot Surgery) through a one-year Post-Doctoral Fellowship at Amrita Institute of Medical Sciences, Kerala, in 2010. Despite facing personal and family challenges, Dr. Jain displayed unwavering determination and commitment, ultimately becoming one of the first diabetic foot surgeons (podiatric surgeons) from Karnataka.

Career and Contributions

In the early stages of his career, Dr. Amit Jain focused on gaining experience and expertise in general and laparoscopic surgery, alongside his specialization in diabetic foot surgery. He served as a Senior Resident, Lecturer, and Assistant Professor in the Department of Surgery at St. John's Medical College from 2010 to 2016. Subsequently, he joined Raja Rajeswari Medical College as an Associate Professor in Department of surgery and was later promoted as Professor while maintaining his private practice at Brindhavvan Areion Hospital during the evenings.

Driven by his commitment to making a difference in the field of diabetic foot care, Dr. Amit Jain initiated the 'Amit Jain's Project for Diabetic Foot.' This philanthropic endeavor aimed to train doctors and nurses in diabetic foot care, with the ultimate goal of reducing amputations. Dr. Jain actively conducted camps and educational events through various mediums, including radio and television channels, to raise awareness about diabetic foot issues. In addition, he established the 'Amit Jain's Diabetic Foot Academy,' which offered short courses such as the National Diabetic Foot Educators Program. At Amit Jain’s Institute of Diabetic Foot, he also runs a one-year Certificate course in Diabetic Foot Care. Dr. Jain pioneered a unique state-of-the-art Continuing Medical Education (CME) program on diabetic foot through 'The Amit Jain's Show,' and its version 'The Amit Jains- Apoorva Show,' incorporating humor and essential messages about various aspects of diabetic foot care, earning it the nickname "Podollywood of Diabetic Foot."

Dr. Amit Jain's significant contributions in the field of diabetic foot have garnered widespread recognition. The Gulf Diabetic Foot Working Group (GDFWG), an international forum, identified his original principles and practices on diabetic foot, leading to invitations for him to speak and share his innovative work on an international stage. Over the years, academicians, researchers, surgeons, and authors from South India acknowledged Dr. Jain's remarkable contributions, resulting in the incorporation of his work in popular surgery books across India. Today, his principles and practices in diabetic foot care are considered a modern and super modern surgical system.

In recognition of his remarkable achievements, Brindhavvan Areion Hospital named its Diabetic Foot wing as the "Amit Jain's Institute of Diabetic Foot and Wound Care," paying tribute to Dr. Amit Jain for his phenomenal original work, surgical skills, social service, and dedication in the field of diabetic foot care.

Awards and Recognition

Dr. Amit Jain's groundbreaking research and publications have earned him several prestigious awards and recognition. He received the Best Paper award at the International Diabetic Foot Conference in 2013 held in Dubai. As a testament to his exceptional contributions, he was selected as one of the Lead International Speakers at the same conference in Dubai in 2014. Dr. Jain was honored with the Millennium Gold Medal Award by the Surgical Society of Bangalore for the Best Paper in 2018.

In 2022, Dr. Amit Jain was recognized as the Best Achiever of the Year at the IKGA held in Chennai for his original research publication in the field of diabetic foot. His marvelous published work and four distinct world records earned him the prestigious "Pride of India" award in 2023 by the Indian Book of Records.

In 2022-2023, he achieved seven distinct world records, including highest named work, largest rule in medical literature, youngest doctor to provide a principle and practice, youngest father of a field (Diabetic Foot) in medical literature, and the youngest doctor to have a wing named after him for his original innovative work. These records are registered in renowned record books such as the Indian Book of Records, India's World Records, Grand Asian Book of World Records, World Records India, and Best of India's Records. Dr. Amit Jain also holds the record for the highest number of records achieved in a single day in the Indian Book of Records.

In addition to his exceptional academic and surgical work, Dr. Amit Jain possesses various talents and interests. He is a skilled Emceeand has showcased his talent at the Gulf Diabetic Foot Conference organized by GDFWG. Dr. Jain's passion for entertaining others led him to perform skits during his college events. He also had a keen interest in dancing, which he showcased at different social events, although he had to temporarily halt this passion due to an ankle injury.
