Dr. Nagesh Waghmare was born and raised in Latur, Maharashtra, where he showed strong academic performance from an early age. He completed his schooling at Shri Venkatesh High School, Latur, and pursued pre-university studies at Rajarshi Shahu College, Latur.
He earned his Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery degree from Grant Medical College, Mumbai. He later completed his Doctor of Medicine in General Medicine from Seth Gordhandas Sunderdas Medical College, Mumbai. To further specialise in cardiology, he obtained a Doctorate of Medicine in Cardiology from the Institute of Post Graduate Medical Education and Research (IPGME&R), Kolkata.

Dr. Waghmare began his professional career as a House Surgeon in the Department of Surgery at the All India Institute of Medical Sciences, New Delhi, in early 2009.
Over the years, he has served in senior academic roles including Associate Professor and Professor of Cardiology at Grant Medical College and Sir J.J. Group of Hospitals, Mumbai. He has extensive experience in interventional cardiology and has performed more than 5,000 elective percutaneous coronary interventions. His work includes complex calcified coronary procedures, imaging-guided interventions, and structural cardiac procedures.
