Rahul Tewatia, born on 20 May 1993, is an Indian cricketer known for his exceptional skills as an all-rounder. Hailing from Haryana, Tewatia has made a significant impact in domestic cricket playing for his state team and has showcased his talents in the Indian Premier League (IPL) representing various franchises. With his left-handed batting and right-arm leg spin, Tewatia has become a formidable force in the cricketing world.

Early Life & Education

Raised in Haryana, Rahul Tewatia discovered his passion for cricket at a young age. He honed his skills through rigorous training and dedicated himself to the sport. His talent and determination soon caught the attention of selectors, leading to his inclusion in Haryana's cricket squad.

Career

Tewatia made his debut for Haryana during the 2013–14 Ranji Trophy, taking the field against Karnataka at the Bansi Lal Cricket Stadium on 6 December 2013. Although he didn't make a significant impact with the bat in his initial appearances, he continued to showcase his potential.

In the IPL, Tewatia made his debut for the Rajasthan Royals in 2014. He later represented the Kings XI Punjab and the Delhi Daredevils (now Delhi Capitals) before being traded back to the Rajasthan Royals in 2019. However, it was in the 2020 IPL season that Tewatia truly rose to prominence. In a match against the Kings XI Punjab, he achieved a remarkable feat by hitting 5 sixes in a single over, equaling Chris Gayle's record. His exceptional innings of 53 runs off 31 balls not only helped his team chase down a mammoth target but also set a new record for the highest successful run chase in IPL history.

In the 2022 IPL auction, Tewatia was acquired by the Gujarat Titans, where he continued to showcase his skills as a valuable asset to the team. In a match against the Punjab Kings, he displayed nerves of steel, hitting consecutive sixes on the final two balls of the match, securing a thrilling victory for his team.

Awards & Recognition

Rahul Tewatia's outstanding performances have garnered recognition and accolades. His record-breaking innings and match-winning contributions have made him a fan favorite. While he continues to make strides in his career, his talents have earned him a spot in the Indian national team.
