Saurabh Pant
Saurabh Pant is a visually impaired Indian author who was born on 4th of April 1994 in the beautiful hill station of Nainital in Uttarakhand. After having pneumonia at age of 3 and accepting the loss of vision at age 5, he came in touch of Braille at age of 12 and started to get used to his surroundings with a lot of people to guide him. He is a totally blind person who uses smart technology to write his works on laptop and smartphone by the help of Screen reader devices and has grown a lot.
Education and early career
Saurabh had his primary education in NIEPVD in Dehradun that is the top institute for students with sight loss. It was this institute where he also learnt screen reader access for devices and how to nurture a better life. He returned back to inclusion after schooling and graduated from Kirori mal college in DU where he was a modest student of his time. Later on he did MA from IgnoU in History and he got the chance to join B R A for the computer diploma course where he also did well growing alongside his Visually impaired fellows and performing equally. He did have great guidance in life as he was mentored by Arti ma’m from the national library during school days. In college he was influenced by seniors like Shrey sir and honorary professor shahana ma'am & Ajeet sir who were always there to clear his doubts and help him grow further. Saurabh was also helped by great writers such as Kunal Uniyal sir, Dr. Sarmistha, Beena, Srilaxmi Chitralekha, Dr. Pandurang Bharkale, Suresh Verma, Namrata Rathor, Ram Sharma, Nandini Mitra and others who did make a significant impact on his life and taught him various aspects of creative writing to cover them in 1 fold.
Professional career
Saurabh’s journey into writing had started to grow in school where he did take part in braille writing contests, but with technical help, he started to contribute to magazines in college days. After winning a special prize for an essay contest in Prachi educational society (march 2013) and 2nd prize in NLu fest story writing ( Feb 2014), his confidence in writing started to grow further. Finally after a lot of editing and cover ups, he published his 1st work in Sept 2014 titled Affection never dies and from there onwards he never looked back on his pain or loss. Today he is author of more than 120 works working with different platforms across the globe and has won 9 international awards across the countries making his community proud. In 2022, he was supported hugely by Digital Golgappa and Cosmoclan platforms and came to be known by the larger Indian spectrum.
Personal life and interests
Saurabh likes to meet new people, explore new things and also have decent friends who never go away once he starts to find their interests. His juniors such as Sandeep Pilkhwal, Ankur Kumar, Nitesh Shukla, Anoop Uttrakhandi, Idrish, and other mates have been a special joy as they know his liking for food and playing guitar. He does feel more connected in between his visually impaired friends and likes to help in whatever way it is possible so he feels glad for all he has done by now.
Legacy and influence
His legacy is well worth appreciating as in 2023 he was honoured by Ne8x officials for his journey alongside famous quote books to celebrate his efforts and he was gratified. In 2024 he was rewarded with premium media coverage by Archishman Satpathy sir for which he is thankful alongside Times Of India, Hindustan Metro and India today for the feature both personal and books at their websites. He is also recognised by The Indian Aawaz for his efforts in the field of writing as they applauded him with Best author award certificate 2024.

Saurabh may not speak much of it but his journey is the testimony to keep searching for lights in the dark and let them come together so it illuminates the ultimate path for you.
