Tilak Varma,[1] a talented Indian cricketer, has been making a name for himself in the cricketing world with his impressive performances. Early Life & Education

Born on November 8, 2002, in Hyderabad, Tilak Varma hails from a humble background. His father, Nagaraju Varma, worked as an electrician, and his mother, Gayatri Devi, is a housewife. Growing up with an older brother named Tharun, Tilak developed a keen interest in sports at a young age. He joined the Legala Sports Academy in Telangana, where he received training in cricket under the guidance of mentor Salam Bayash. Tilak pursued his early education at Hyderabad Public School, Begumpet.

Career

Tilak Varma[2] made his first-class debut for Hyderabad in the 2018–19 Ranji Trophy on December 30, 2018. In his debut match against Andhra, Tilak showcased his batting prowess, scoring a total of 215 runs in seven matches during the tournament at an impressive strike rate of 147.26. Following his successful performance in the Ranji Trophy, he made his Twenty20 debut for Hyderabad in the 2018–19 Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy on February 28, 2019.

With his consistent performances, Tilak earned opportunities in both List A and T20 matches. He played sixteen List A matches and fifteen T20 matches, displaying his versatility and skills in both formats. In the 2019–20 Vijay Hazare Trophy, he scored 180 runs in five games and also took four wickets, further establishing his all-round abilities.

Tilak's talent and potential were recognized when he was selected to represent India in the 2020 Under-19 Cricket World Cup. Although he scored 86 runs in six matches during the tournament, his inclusion in the national squad was a testament to his abilities.

In the 2022 Indian Premier League auction, Tilak Varma's remarkable performance caught the attention of the Mumbai Indians, who acquired him for a price of Rs. 1.7 crore. Making his presence felt in the IPL, Tilak delivered an outstanding performance by scoring a quick-fire 61 runs off 33 balls against the Rajasthan Royals at the DY Patil Stadium in Navi Mumbai. In April 2023, he continued to impress, scoring an unbeaten 84 runs off just 46 balls against the Royal Challengers Bangalore.
